For years now, more and more superfoods have been coming onto the market and have been swept across the ocean to us as a trend. There are domestic fruits, and vegetables that can be used for superfood. In this way, delicious recipes can be created from a local superfood. What is important, however, is that the delicious superfruits come from the region and are ideally organic. Only in an emergency imported fruits and vegetables should be used.

What is Superfood?

Actually, there is no such thing as "Superfood", it is a fashionable term for certain types of fruit, vegetables, and nuts that are supposed to have a positive effect on health. Incidentally, "Superfood" is not allowed to be used in advertising, as the Health Claims Regulation only allows advertising with "promises" if these are scientifically proven - and this is not always the case with Superfood.

Superfood powders are also popular because they are easier and faster to process in recipes. No matter whether it is mixed with muesli, yogurt or a smoothie, such a powder is simply easier to handle than the whole berry or the big piece of apple.

Of course, the best thing is to plant the superfood at home and harvest it accordingly. If this is not possible, it is worth going to your local farmers' market to get seasonal fruit and vegetables. Fresh fruit is of course always better than a superfood powder and they taste better too.

Many of our berries have a high content of vitamins and minerals that can easily put up with imported fruit and vegetables. These include especially blueberries and raspberries. The anthocyanins in blueberries and the flavonoids in raspberries can have a positive effect on our bodies.

In the case of vegetables, it is mainly the cabbages, where the savoy cabbage stands out in a special way with its high vitamin C content. Kale and Brussels sprouts are also among the delicious superfoods that we can grow in the garden without any problems. Spinach and red cabbage also belong to the local superfoods.

Nuts such as walnuts and hazelnuts and also the local linseed are becoming more and more popular and can easily be used in delicious recipes.

A tasty salad always rounds off a delicious meal, especially when prepared from Superfood lamb's lettuce. It has a very high iron content and scores with other minerals and vitamins.
